A Life Paused

I met with my grandpa once after his most recent hospital visit. Once. To spend time with him before the chaos of moving a dementia patient across the country began. During the visit I knew I wanted to document things about him like his work as a hobbyist photographer, musician, and gardener. Crossing the threshold into his house, very little of “Norm” was present. Medications, general mess, and a subtle emptiness. Like he left hastily. As of January 2024, He’s moved across the country to assisted living in Alabama with help from my uncle and although his memory hasn’t improved, his living situation certainly has. His life before the move slowly moving further out of reach.
